With the success of the 2023 XC90, Volvo didn't make any huge changes to the 2024 model. However, there are several small changes that you'll want to know about. For example, the 2024 XC90 models with the B6 all-wheel-drive powertrain offer a new 22-inch wheel and tire package. Volvo has also added Vapour Grey Metallic to the exterior paint options.

In terms of performance, the 2024 B5's finely tuned all-wheel-drive powertrain produces 250 horsepower, improving on the 2023 model's 247 horsepower. Similarly, the B6 all-wheel-drive configuration now produces 316 horsepower instead of 295 horsepower and provides better fuel efficiency, with an EPA-estimated rating of 23 mpg versus 22 mpg for the 2023 model.

Volvo kept the 2024 XC90 largely the same as the 2023 model because it already includes all the amenities and features you could want. There are three 2024 Volvo XC90 trim levels available, which will largely determine the premium features you get.

The 2024 Volvo XC90 Core

The base version of the 2024 Volvo XC90 is the Core. Despite being the entry-level trim, you'll still get first-class amenities, including heated and power-adjustable front seats, a hands-free power tailgate, power-retractable door mirrors, a 9-inch infotainment display system, Google built-in, and a 10-speaker high-performance audio system. This is the most affordable version of the 2024 Volvo XC90, but it doesn't lack premium features.

The XC90 Core comes with the B5 all-wheel-drive mild hybrid powertrain, consisting of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and a 48-volt electric motor. This is sufficient power for most drivers, but if you want a little more oomph, you can upgrade to the B6 Core or Recharge T8 Core. The B6 powertrain produces 295 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, while the Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid delivers 455 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque. Each XC90 comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, regardless of the trim or powertrain.

The 2024 Volvo XC90 Plus

The next level up is the 2024 Volvo XC90 Plus. This version adds features such as heated second-row seats, high-level interior illumination, a heated steering wheel, premium interior floor mats, leather upholstery, and an integrated child booster cushion. If you select the B6 or Recharge engines in this trim or the Ultimate, you can choose whether you want the standard seating for seven or the second-row captain's chairs, which reduces the passenger capacity to six. With these features and more, the Plus trim level is a worthwhile upgrade for anyone looking for a family vehicle.
